SGEU MVP of the Month: Caden Drury, Melville Millionaires
As deep as the Melville Millionaires are, there is no doubt that Drury is the Mils’ best player and leader. To go with his points, he owns a league-best +15 rating, has won the fifth most face-off in the league, and is a massive reason his team sits at No. 2 in the SJHL as October turns to November. Melville’s captain and top-line centreman has a great argument that he has been the league’s best player so far this campaign.
Month Stats: 14 GP – 9 G, 17 A, 26 pts
Bourgault Forward of the Month: Jaron Desnoyers, Yorkton Terriers
Desnoyers leads an array of serious weapons on the Terriers. After starting the year like a house on fire, production-wise has settled into a remarkably consistent run that includes an 8-game point streak at the time of writing. He is also in a four-way tie for first in the league in goals with 10.
Month Stats: 15 GP – 10 G, 12 A, 22 pts
SuperU Defenceman of the Month: Tre Fouquette, Humboldt Broncos
Fouquette and his partner Oakley McIlwain have a great argument as the best defence pairing in the SJHL so far. With his size, vast experience, and booming shot, he has become an instant star at the Elgar Petersen Arena. His +10 rating ranks third amongst defenders in the league, while only five of his 14 points have come on the power play.
Month Stats: 14 GP – 4 G, 10 A, 14 pts
Sasktel Goalie of the Month: Kristian Coombs, Melfort Mustangs
One of the burning questions coming into the season was how well Kristian Coombs would fill the considerable skates of reigning SJHL championship goaltender James Venne in the Melfort net. Well, the answer is in…and it’s brilliant. Coombs has answered every bell in spades and has helped the Mustangs to the second-fewest goals-against while posting the fourth-most minutes played in the league.
Month Stats: 10 Games – 7-3-0-0 record, 2.04 GAA, .935 SV%, 1 shutout
IKS Media Rookie of the Month: Jaxon Herchak, Kindersley Klippers
The Klippers defence-corps is experienced, but as well as they have played collectively, it could easily be argued that their most mature member is the 17-year-old rookie Herchak. His points have not come from an extension past what his game demands, and the Colorado College DI commit has hardly put a foot wrong.
Month Stats: 13 GP – 1 G, 12 A, 13 pts
Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Month: Dustin Renas, Yorkton Terriers (from Saskatoon, Sask)
Renas’s production all year has been torrid, and with speed and shot to match his power, it’s little wonder that the former Sask U18AAA superstar with Warman has translated so dominantly to the SJHL game. The Terriers have a glittering array of talent, and the Saskatoon native is right at the forefront of it.
Month Stats: 15 GP – 9 G, 11 A – 20 pts
