REGINA, SK – Two Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) alums have taken home Canada West season awards as the USports Men’s Hockey regular season has come to an end.
Yorkton Terriers’ alum Chantz Petruic was named a Second-Team All-Star after he posted 18 goals and 36 points in 26 games for the University of Saskatchewan.
He has had a remarkable university career so far, with 133 points in 117 regular-season USports contests over the five campaigns.
Petruic, the Moose Jaw, SK. native posted 243 points in 158 SJHL games with the Terriers between 2015 and 2020.
His Huskies are in the finals of Canada West, awaiting the winner of the other semifinal between Mount Royal University and the University of Calgary.
Recent Melfort Mustangs’ graduate Reilley Kotai was named to the Canada West All-Rookie Team, as he averaged a point per game with 12 goals and 12 assists in 24 appearances for the University of British Columbia.
The Abbotsford, BC native had 77 points in 53 games in the regular season for the champs last year, and had 17 points in 13 SJHL post-season contests a year ago en route to Melforts’ second consecutive Canterra Seeds Cup championship.
