CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Chris Van Os Shaw, Humboldt Broncos
1997 F Chris Van Os Shaw (Regina SK) took off with another awesome performance this past week, firing 4-goals and 2-assists in 2-games played as he helped the Broncos earn three of a possible four points. He scored all four of those goals and had a five point outing against La Ronge on Tuesday and then set up a goal on Friday versus Kindersley. He sits with 9-goals and 8-assists in 10-games so far. Runner-up: Braden Mellon, Weyburn
IBAS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK: Connor Sych, Battlefords North Stars
1997 D Connor Sych (North Battleford SK) picked up the nod this week on the strength of his 2-goal, 1-assist showing at the Whitney Forum in Flin Flon on Saturday night, a tough place to play for road teams. Overall, Sych is up to 3-goals and 3-assists in 11-games on the year. Runner-up: Jeremy Lagler, Weyburn.
SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK: Nathan Hargrave, Weyburn Red Wings
1996 G Nathan Hargrave (Abbotsford BC) won his two starts this past week, including a 35-save effort on Friday against the Notre Dame Hounds and then one night later he blanked the La Ronge Ice Wolves with 29-stops and is now 5-3-and-1 with a 2.22-GAA and .931-SPCT. Runner up: Garrett Mason, Humboldt.
SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Joel Gryzbowski, Battlefords North Stars
1998 G Joel Gryzbowski (Saskatoon SK) has been electric to start his SJHL career and that continued last week when he won two games and blocked 53-of-54 shots. Last Tuesday he made 26-saves in defeating Melfort and then on Saturday he had a 27-save shutout of the Flin Flon Bombers to improve his ledger to 4-0, 0.50, .979, and 2 shutouts. Runner up: Jordan Greenfield-Flemon, Notre Dame.
