The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) is gearing up for an action-packed opening weekend as the 2025-26 regular season officially begins on Friday, September 19. Fans across the province will be treated to intense rivalries and marquee matchups as all 12 teams hit the ice to begin their campaigns.
The action begins Friday night with six games on the slate. In Flin Flon, the Bombers host the La Ronge Ice Wolves at the always-electric Whitney Forum at 7:30 p.m. CDT. The newly-renamed Whitecap Resources Centre in Weyburn will see the Red Wings welcome the Yorkton Terriers in a classic Bunge Division rivalry, while the CN Community Centre in Melville plays host to the Mils’ opener against the Estevan Bruins.
The highly anticipated debut of the expansion Warman Wolverines also takes place Friday as they welcome the Humboldt Broncos to the Warman Home Centre Communiplex at 7:00 p.m. ST. Meanwhile, the Kindersley Klippers will square off against the Battlefords North Stars at the Access Communications Centre in Kindersley, and the Nipawin Hawks will take on the Melfort Mustangs at the Northern Lights Palace, the home of the two-time defending Canterra Seeds Cup champions.
The home-and-home rivalries continue on Saturday, September 20, with another full slate of five games. The Kindersley Klipperrs return the favour by hosting Battlefords the Inter Pipeline Events Centre Arena at 6:30 p.m., while Melville and Estevan switch venues with the Bruins welcoming the Millionaires to Affinity Place. The rivalry between Yorkton and Weyburn also flips, as the Terriers play host to the Red Wings at Westland Arena.
Saturday night also features the Ice Wolves and Bombers continuing their fierce northern rivalry for the first game at the Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre in La Ronge, while Humboldt fans get their first chance to cheer on the Broncos as they host Warman in the Wolverines’ first-ever visit to Elgar Petersen Arena.
