TORONTO – With the Calgary Canucks (AJHL) capturing the Centennial Cup, presented by Tim Hortons, over the weekend, the 2024-25 Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) campaign came to a close.
Among the 118 member clubs that competed in their respective league regular seasons, 33 players amassed 75, or more, points. That was paced by Lucas Signoretti of the Greater Sudbury Cubs (NOJHL) who led the CJHL with 101 points.
The leading goal-getter was James Swan of the Braves de Valleyfield (LHJAAAQ) as he found the back of the net on 58 occasions.
Among his tally total, 21 came on the power play to also lead the country.
Swan went on to bang in nine more markers in the playoffs to help Valleyfield win the NAPA Cup and supplied nine more tallies in the Centennial Cup to pace all players in the 10-team event.
Topping the CJHL in assists was Swan’s Braves’ teammate Nathan Lévesque, who dished out 72 helpers on the year.
Another player who took part in the Centennial Cup was Corbin Roach of the Trenton Golden Hawks (OJHL). He led the CJHL in shorthanded goals with seven.
In terms of game-winning goals, Owen King of the Blind River Beavers (NOJHL) led the way with a dozen, among the 50 overall tallies he had.
On the back end, a pair of blueliners shared the national lead in points by defencemen.
That duo was Étienne Tremblay-Mathieu of the Condors de Cégep Beauce-Appalaches (LHJAAAQ) and Isaiah Peters, who played for the Winkler Flyers (MJHL). They both racked up 60 points apiece.
Looking at goaltenders, Marcus Vandenberg of the Leamington Flyers (OJHL) topped all CJHL netminders in goals-against average at 1.48.
Vandenberg was also No. 1 in save percentage at .946.
Meanwhile, Christian Green, who manned the nets for the Steinbach Pistons (MJHL) registered the most wins with 33 and Noah Tegelaar of the Collingwood Blues (OJHL) posted a CJHL-high 10 shutouts in his 30 appearances.
