Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League

SOURCE EMBROIDERY POWER RANKINGS (Oct 16)

By Mike Stackhouse

1-KINDERSLEY KLIPPERS (8-3-1) 1st last week
Unbeaten in five, oddly just 4-3-and-1 overall on home ice.

2-FLIN FLON BOMBERS (8-4-0-2) 7th last week
An impressive 3-0-and-1 road trip through Humboldt, Notre Dame, Weyburn, and Estevan.

3-HUMBOLDT BRONCOS (8-4-1-0) 5th last week
Leading the league in attendance (1042) hasn’t translated into dominance on home ice, but they’ve been solid all year since losing the first two games of the season.

4-MELFORT MUSTANGS (7-3-1) 6th last week
Hunter Arps backstops Melfort to a home and home sweep over Nipawin.

5-YORKTON TERRIERS (6-4-1) 8th last week
This may be the highest ranking for the Terriers since they last won the league in 2014.

6-BATTLEFORDS NORTH STARS (6-4-0-1) 3rd last week
Stars ran into the Yorkton powerhouse offense over the weekend.

7-NIPAWIN HAWKS (7-4) 2nd last week
Hawks have dropped four of their last five and three in a row.  Someone sound a fire alarm.  The team and fans aren’t used to this kind of ‘slump’.

8-WEYBURN RED WINGS (5-4-1) 4th last week
Winless in three, but the good news is that two of the three other clubs in their division are also struggling.

9-NOTRE DAME HOUNDS (5-7) 9th last week
Rebounded nicely with back to back wins on the weekend after Thursday’s home ice loss to Flin Flon.

10-LA RONGE ICE WOLVES (4-8) 11th last week
Impressive run before dropping their last two.  Return of Pipes in goal should bolster their defensive side.

11-ESTEVAN BRUINS (5-7) 10th last week
Additions DeRoose and Platt from the WHL haven’t translated into wins, McChesney has missed the last three.

12-MELVILLE MILLIONAIRES (2-8-1-2) 12th last week
Huge win against Weyburn before embarking on a road trip where the results were decent despite the toughness of the competition in Battlefords and Kindersley.
