Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League

SOURCE EMBROIDERY POWER RANKINGS (Sept 25)

By Mike Stackhouse

1-MELFORT MUSTANGS (4-0)
The back to back champs suffered a down year in 2017, but they look to be back as good as ever in 2018.

2-BATTLEFORDS NORTH STARS (3-0-1)
Defending champs have their third coach in as many years but that hasn’t stopped them from a quick start out of the gate.

3-ESTEVAN BRUINS (3-1)
Bruins are going to score a lot of goals, it’s just a matter of how many can they keep out.

4-NOTRE DAME HOUNDS (2-0-1-1)
They’ve fired 18 goals in the first four games of the season, despite a massive roster turnover.

5-NIPAWIN HAWKS (2-1-1)
Small sample size, but perhaps the Hawks have their next great goalie in Jake Anthony.

6-FLIN FLON BOMBERS (2-1-0-1)
Plenty of depth up front and a three year veteran in goal should be enough to keep the Bombers in the upper half of the league.

7-HUMBOLDT BRONCOS (3-2)
A tough schedule to begin the season but all signs are pointed in the right direction.

8-WEYBURN RED WINGS (2-1-1)
A slow start, yielding three points to division rival Yorkton on opening weekened, but their last two games have been much better.

9-KINDERSLEY KLIPPERS (1-2-1)
Zero goals scored in the first two games of the year against the North Stars; but a nice rebound in the games following that.

10-MELVILLE MILLIONAIRES (1-3)
A roster shake up after the first weekend has this team finding its way again.  Goal scoring could be an issue if early signs are any indication.

11-YORKTON TERRIERS (1-2-1)
Two lopsided losses after earning three of a possible four points to start the season.

12-LA RONGE ICE WOLVES (0-3)
Evan Vossen still looking for his first win.  No preseason games due to forest fires up north hasn’t helped.
