CAMROSE, AB – Austin Garrett and Carter Geysen had a goal and an assist each as the Battlefords North Stars downed their West Sask rival Kindersley Klippers 6-1 on New Year’s Eve.
Garrett’s winner 5:26 into the final frame began a five-goal period for the Black and Silver, and helped them slip into fifth in the league, one point ahead of Kindersley.
Kaeden Serpa shone and made 35 stops in the win, while Brett O’Halloran faced 29 shots in defeat.
Both teams were missing two players at the Viking Cup: Anthony Campbell and Gavin Granger of Battlefords, and Russ Demo and Van Eger of Kindersley, who are in Camrose with Team SJHL.
