Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League

Stars Win 4th Straight

League play resumed Thursday following the SJHL/MJHL Showcase, and despite playing their 3rd game in three games (Two at the Showcase and one in league play), the big guns of the Battlefords North Stars showed no signs of fatigue in a 5-2 win over the Notre Dame Hounds Thursday.

SJHL leading scorer Kian Bell led the charge Thursday night, finding the back of the net twice, and adding two assists. Bell now has 7 goals in his last 4 games, and is up to 40 on the season.

Tynan Ewert, Jake Southgate, Holden Doell, and Steven Kesslering all had a pair of points in the win as well, and Justen Maric stopped 42 of 44 shots he faced in the win.

With the win, the Stars improve to 38-3-2-1 on the season and will be back on the ice Saturday when they host the Melfort Mustangs.

Meanwhile, for the Hounds, they drop to 14-20-3-2 and are still 5 points back of the Weyburn Red Wings for the 8th and final playoff spot.
