ASSINIBOIA, SK—The first night of the season, on which all 12 teams played, saw almost a clean sweep for the home teams.

Koen Senft and Carter Anderson exploded for two goals apiece as the Flin Flon Bombers took down the Melfort Mustangs 6-3 at the Whitney Forum.

In Yorkton, the Terriers got a second-period winner from defenceman Thierry Laliberte and beat the Nipawin Hawks 3-1.

A wild one at the Access Communications Centre in North Battleford saw the Battlefords North Stars score four in the third period and beat their Nutrien Division rival Humboldt Broncos, 8-6.

Brock Evans and Ethan Hilbig scored in the shootout, and the local Hilbig also pitched in two assists in regulation as the Kindersley Klippers edged the Estevan Bruins 4-3.

The La Ronge Ice Wolves tallied four in a row and were led by Hudson Cameron in a 4-1 victory over the Melville Millionaires at the Mel Hegland Uniplex.

Weyburn was the lone road team to win as they parlayed a Liam Fitzgerald first-period hat trick into a dominating 7-1 win vs. the Notre Dame Hounds at a neutral-site game in Assiniboia.

Highlights, presented by Chevrolet, are to come tomorrow.
