Humboldt, SK – Ten teams were in action for the first Saturday of the 2024/25 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League campaign.
The Humboldt Broncos got three points from veteran Maddox Amaral and took the 6-3 win over the Notre Dame Hounds in Brayden Klimosko’s first contest as the club’s head coach and general manager. Klimosko, a local and club legend, took the job in the off-season after six successful seasons in Battlefords, replacing the departed Scott Barney.
The Kindersley Klippers and Melville Millionaires earned weekend sweeps over their respective division rival Battlefords North Stars and Estevan Bruins while the La Ronge Ice Wolves were the only team to win on the road, taking a decision in Nipawin.
Meanwhile in, in a rematch of last year’s league final, the Melfort Mustangs defeated the Flin Flon Bombers 6-2 at the Northern Lights Palace—the same place where the season ended a year ago.
