There has been a lot of talk about the young Nipawin Hawks this season, and when you talk about the Hawks one of they key focal points of their hockey team is Defenceman Zander Stewart.
The 19-year-old from West Kelowna, B.C has played in every situation for Head Coach Tad Kozun this season. 5 on 5, Powerplay, Penalty Kill, you name it.
Stewart also continues to produce offensively for the club as he enters Tuesday’s (Jan 17th) game with 5 goals and 26 assists in 36 games played. He currently sits 3rd in SJHL scoring among Defenceman.
The break out season has also featured many accolades for Stewart, including SuperU SJHL Defenceman of the Week honours, being named SuperU SJHL Defenceman of the Month for November, and being named to the SJHL’s Team White U20 team for the SJHL/MJHL Showcase at the end of the month in Winnipeg.
The season so far has been an incredible one for the Hawks blue-liner, and Stewart will play a big role in the Hawks potentially getting back to the playoffs this season.
