Hobbs Adds Another Shutout

The Estevan Bruins out-shot the Nipawin Hawks 39-26 but Declan Hobbs stopped all 39 in the Hawks’ net for his second shutout in less than a week, third this season and eighth career, as Nipawin blanked the visiting Bruins 2-0 on Tuesday.

Christian Bosa’s powerplay goal late in the second period broke the ice and stood up as the winner.  Austen Flaman (1g-1a) notched his third goal in his last two games, into an empty net to seal it.

The Hawks (10-5-0-0) jumped into a share of first place in Sherwood Division with Flin Flon, one point up on Melfort.

Grant Boldt made 25/26 saves in goal for the Bruins (7-8-0-0).

Shots were also lopsided in Melfort, where the Mustangs outshot Weyburn 46-17 but they snuck out a 6-5 win.

Zach Anderson had a goal and three assists and Carson Albrecht scored twice.  Tyson Meyers, Colin Schmidt also scored and Justin Ball added his 14th for the Mustangs (9-4-1-0).

Connor Pyne led the Red Wings (5-8-1-0) with a goal and two assists.  Carson Scheschuk, Jordan Kazymyra and Ben Hiltz also found the net.

The Notre Dame Hounds used six different scorers to beat the Melville Millionaires.  Noah Bankowski (1g-1a), Nolan Renwick and Charles Martin had the Hounds (6-8-0-1) up 3-0 after the first period.  Cole Stevenson and Tanner Tarbell both struck in the second period, and Jared Hamm extended it to 6-0 early in the third before Logan Foster got the Millionaires (2-9-2-2) on the board shortly after.

Riley Kohonick made 32/33 saves in the win.
