REGINA, SK – Jacob Strizzi notched his 20th of the year 1:55 into overtime, and the Humboldt Broncos snapped their three-game skid to start January with a 4-3 victory over the Notre Dame Hounds Wednesday.
Spencer Borsos was brilliant in the ND net, making 47 often brilliant stops in defeat. Dazza Mitchell’s 28 saves were enough for his first win in a Humboldt jersey since his recent acquisition from Weyburn.
In Estevan, the Bruins let a four-goal lead slip only to find a way to score three in the third period en route to a 7-4 win at home vs. the La Ronge Ice Wolves.
Kent Moors and Steven Steranka led the way with four points each for the Bruins, while Hudson Cameron was in on all of La Ronge’s goals.
Finally, the Melfort Mustangs got the winner from Logan Belton and outlasted the Kindersley Klippers 4-1 at home.
It was the Mustangs’ second win in a row since their 17-game win streak was snapped and the fourth of five games in the new year in which they allowed one goal or fewer.
