WEDNESDAY RECAP – Roberts, Hawks ground Wings

REGINA, SK – Gage Roberts stopped all 39 shots he faced, and Eric Hoiness’ first-period goal held up as the winner as the Nipawin Hawks blanked the Weyburn Red Wings 2-0 on Wednesday.

The line of Hoiness, Mason Karakochuk, and Sean Shiels accounted for both of Nipawin’s goals and has combined for 14 points over the Hawks’ last two games.

In Yorkton, Estevan’s Rylan Williams scored 1:01 into the contest, but Gabriel Courschesne and Thomas Ries both tallied in the opening frame, and the Terriers went on to take down the Bruins 3-1.

Alexander Montoya made 21 stops in the win to help Yorkton win its fourth straight, and move within one point of Weyburn for third place.

Finally, in Warman, Bryson Aikens notched a pair of goals to lift the Kindersley Klippers to a 5-1 win over the Wolverines.

Russ Demo was the game-high scorer with three assists on the night, while Mattias Radke made 24 saves in the victory.
