Terriers Snap Losing Streak

Chantz Petruic scored all three of his teams goals for his first SJHL hat trick, newly acquired goaltender Joe Marcouiller made 29/31 saves to win his first SJHL start, and Mat Hehr picked up his first SJHL win as a Head Coach, as the Yorkton Terriers beat the league leading Melfort Mustangs 3-2 on Wednesday.

Cody Bruchkowski added a pair of assists for the Terriers (4-17-2-0), who ended an eight game slide.

Colin Schmidt (1g-1a) and Rock Ruschkowski had goals for the Mustangs (16-5-3-1), who out-shot the Terriers 31-21.

While the Terriers won, so too did their rivals from Melville, who won 3-2 in overtime in Humboldt.

Cory Schillo scored halfway through the overtime period to give the Millionaires (8-15-0-2) the extra point.  Daniel Liberty (1g-1a) and Isaac Embree also scored and Colby Entz made 27/29 goals.

Matthieu Gomercic (1g-1a) and Logan Hunter replied for the Broncos (14-9-2-1).  Jacob Wassermann stopped 22 of the 25 shots he faced.  Humboldt is now winless in four (0-3-1-0).

After a narrow loss in Nipawin on Tuesday, the Estevan Bruins continued their four game road trip with a 5-3 victory in La Ronge on Wednesday.

Jake Tesarowski had a goal and an assist for the Bruins (16-8-2-0), who move back into sole possession of first place in the Viterra Division.  Jake Heerspink, Arthur Miller and Jake Fletcher scored first period goals and Hayden Guilderson added a late one in the third.  Matt Lukacs made 32 saves on 35 shots.  The Bruins continue on to Flin Flon on Friday, Melfort on Saturday.

Matthew Perkins scored twice for the Ice Wolves (5-15-0-2) while Mitch Zambon added his first goal in his first SJHL game.
