WEDNESDAY WRAP

The Yorkton Terriers picked up their third win over the Battlefords North Stars on Wednesday, 5-1 at Farrell Agencies Arena.

The Stars are 1-3-0-0 against the Terriers, and 22-0-0-0 against the rest of the league.

Ryan Ouelette stopped 42 of the 43 shots he faced, while Alec Zawatsky had a goal and two assists, and former Stars’ defenseman Ryan Granville added three assists for Yorkton.  Chantz Petruic (1g-1a) scored his 30th goal of the season in his 30th game, while Jordan Guiney (1g-1a), Steven Norum and Kaeden Taphorn (first as a Terrier) also scored for the Terriers (17-12-1-0), who now sit tied for third overall in the league.

Quintin Loon-Stewardson scored his 20th goal of the season for the Stars (22-3-0-0).  That’s the start of a 3-in-3 trip for the Stars, who head to Notre Dame Wednesday and Weyburn Thursday.

Zach Bannister scored 3:09 into overtime and the Melville Millionaires edged the Kindersley Klippers 2-1 (OT).

Jaden Hewes opened the scoring for the Millioniares (9-15-2-3), and Berk Berkeliev made 38/39 saves.

Liam Fraser continued his hot streak, notching his 15th goal of the season for the Klippers (10-14-4-1), giving him 7-goals and 9-points in his last four games.  Matt Sanker stopped 31/33 shots in the overtime loss.  Kindersley hits the midway point of the season tied for the 8th and final playoff spot with Notre Dame, while Melville’s two points back.

The Flin Flon Bombers are halfway through a four game trip and they’re perfect so far, picking up a 3-1 win in Notre Dame on Wednesday.

Alec Malo (1g-2a) and Donovan Houle-Villeneuve (3a) were each in on all three goals for the Bombers (18-6-3-0), while defenseman Mason Martin finished off the scoring with a third period powerplay goal.  Kyle Jessiman made 17/18 saves in forty minutes of work, while Jacob Delorme stopped all five shots he faced, playing the third period.

Kenzie MacKinnon scored, and Riley Kohonick made 39/42 saves in goal for the Hounds (11-14-2-1).
