Three points separate third place for sixth, one point separating fourth from sixth, and there’s a fifth place tie after the La Ronge Ice Wolves blanked the visiting Weyburn Red Wings 6-0 on Wednesday night.

That pulls the Ice Wolves (24-17-3-2) into a tie with Nipawin for fifth spot in the overall standings, one point back of Melfort.

Liam McGarva made 27 saves for his fourth shutout this season, which ties him for the league lead with Weyburn’s Joe Young.

Jake Gudjonson scored twice on Wednesday, while Nolan Doell added a goal and an assist.  Chad McIlwain, Holden Knights and James Philpott rounded out the scoring.

Douglas Wakelin made his first SJHL start, making 42 saves for the Red Wings (18-26-0-1).

The Flin Flon Bombers tightened their grip on second place, with a convincing 9-2 win over the visiting Estevan Bruins.

Reid Robertson (2g-1a) and Mason Martin scored two goals each for the Bombers (28-10-5-0).  Billy Klymchuk added a goal and two assists and Alec Malo had three helpers, while Donavan Houle-Villeneuve (1g-1a), Cole Rafuse (1g-1a), Easton Haygarth and Zach Bannister rounded out the scoring.  Jacob Delorme made 30/32 saves.

Brady Nicholas and Tyson Manz replied for the Bruins (21-20-3-1), who remain three points up on Kindersley for the final playoff spot.
