Where Are They Now? 2017/18 Bruins’ Graduates

The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins’ will begin their 2018-19 season this weekend, as the annual Main Camp runs August 30 – September 1 at Affinity Place.

But on the eve of turning the page towards a new season, let’s take a quick look at where the eight graduating players from the Bruins’ 17-18 Canalta Cup runner-up squad have all ended up over the summer.

#7 – Tyler Hengen – D (Estevan, SK)

One of two hometown graduates for the Bruins’ from last season, Hengen played in 94 regular season games over 2+ years with the Bruins’.  A reliable, steady defenceman with some offensive skill, Hengen shone during the playoff run last season helping the Bruins’ to Game 7 of the Canalta Cup final.

Tyler will be attending tryouts at Mount Royal University in Calgary, looking to continue his hockey career in USports for the Cougars.

#9 – Hayden Guilderson – F (Chilliwack, BC)

The speedy and skilled Guilderson became one of Chris Lewgood’s best two-way forwards during his two seasons with the Bruins’. Guilderson’s return from injury during the semi-final series against Battlefords helped lead the Bruins’ past the defending league champions in Game 5, and Guilderson finished with 14 points in 12 playoff games in 17-18.

Hayden is committed to the University of Victoria Vikes in the BCIHL (BC Intercollegiate Hockey League) for the upcoming season.

#12 – Jake Tesarowski – D (Regina, SK)

Tesarowski joined the Bruins’ midway through his final season of junior hockey and his two-way game from the back end helped solidify the defence corps en route to a deep playoff run. Though he played injured, and missed a few games in playoffs due to injury, Tesarowski was a key piece to Estevan’s success in 17-18.

Jake joins Hayden Guilderson with the University of Victoria Vikes in the BCIHL for the upcoming season.

#16 – Zach Goberis – F (Arvada, CO, USA)

One of Chris Lewgood’s most trusted two-way players over the past three seasons, Goberis became a SJHL star in his final season of junior hockey. Goberis finished 3rd in league scoring with 78 points (34, 44) while playing all 58 regular season games. He added 19 points while playing all 16 playoff games during the Bruins’ postseason run and was named as the team MVP.

The Bruins’ are very excited that, for the fourth consecutive season, one of their players has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey.

Zach will join the University of Nebraska-Omaha (UNO) Mavericks of the NCHC (National Collegiate Hockey Conference). (2015 – Nolan Nicholas/UAA, 2016 – Charlie Manley/RPI, 2017 – Josh Rieger/UND)

#17 – Kaelan Holt – F (Estevan, SK)

A fan-favourite for the past three seasons with his hometown team, Holt enjoyed a dream season in 17-18. Holt finished 6th in league scoring with 69 points in 57 games and topped that in the playoffs, leading the SJHL with 22 points in 16 postseason games. Few players have been as productive on the ice and as impactful in the community than Holt.

Kaelan will be attending Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton to play for the Griffins in the ACAC (Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference) this upcoming season.

#24 – Arthur Miller – F (Regina, SK)

The speedy, skilled and bruising Miller joined the Bruins’ early in the year last season and immediate became a crowd-favourite with his hard shot and even harder hits. Miller tallied 39 points in 40 games and added 155 PIM in his final junior season, then chipped in another 15 points in 16 playoff games.

Arthur will be suiting up for the University of Regina to play USports hockey with the Cougars this upcoming season.

#27 – Jake Fletcher – F (Surrey, BC)

Earning the honour to wear the ‘C’ for the Bruins’ in his final season, Fletcher led his team to it’s best season in almost 20 years. His unique blend of skill, speed, and toughness became an example for his teammates to follow, and resulted in the team playing in Game 7 of the Canalta Cup final…the first appearance in the final since 1999. Fletcher tallied 62 points in 52 regular season games and added 21 points in 16 playoff games, including an SJHL-leading 11 goals in the postseason.

Jake will play for Concordia University in Montreal in USports for the Stingers this upcoming season.

#30 – Bo Didur – G (West Vancouver, BC)

Didur joined the Bruins’ at the end of November to shore up the crease for his final season of junior hockey. After splitting starts for the rest of the regular season, Didur earned the starting nod for the playoffs and quickly rewarded the Bruins’ with an all-time postseason performance.

Didur posted a .930 save percentage and 2.35 goals-against average including two shootouts in 15 playoff games, en route to being named the Bruins’ Playoff MVP and earning the affection from the community of Estevan in the process.

Bo will be attending Concordia University of Wisconsin to play with the Falcons in NCAA Division 3 this upcoming season.
