NOW TIED FOR FINAL PLAYOFF SPOT
With back to back wins in Melville in five nights, the Weyburn Red Wings have moved into a tie, with the Millionaires for the 10th and final playoff spot heading into the final three games of the regular season.
Dawson McKenzie (1g-1a) scored 1:06 into overtime Wednesday night, as the Wings pulled off a 4-3 (OT) decision. The two teams are now even with 40 points and three games remaining. Weyburn now owns the tie-breaker, at least for now as well, with 16 regulation + overtime wins, to Melville’s 15.
Sean Olson scored twice for the Red Wings (17-32-5-1) and Jacob Piller added the other. Cody Levesque made 31/34 saves.
Damian Bentz returned to Melville’s lineup and was in on all three of their goals, opening the scoring just 1:57 into the game, before setting Josh Borynec (1g-1a) for a second period marker, and Max McPeak who forced overtime with under six minutes left. Colby Entz made 29/33 saves for the Millionaires (15-30-6-4).
The two teams both have three games left.
