SGEU Most Valuable Player of the Month: Spencer Bell, Humboldt Broncos
After an up-and-down January for the Humboldt Broncos, they got back on track in a big way in February, and Spencer Bell was a big part of it. A league-high 14-game point streak ran from Jan. 9 to Feb. 15 yielded 23 points, and his dominance throughout the campaign has earned him a Division I NCAA commitment to St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. for next year. A centreman who plays in all situations, the Warman, SK native leads the league in goals at the time of writing with 40 and is consistently over 50% in the faceoff dot. Spencer is also second in league scoring (75 pts), third in power-play goals (15), and shorthanded goals (4).

Bourgault Forward of the Month: Aidyn Hutchinson, Melfort Mustangs
Injuries have not been kind to the Melfort Mustangs this year, and Aidyn Hutchinson has done a lot to carry the consistent offensive load this campaign. The 20-year-old forward from St. Albert, AB was unstoppable in February when he posted 10 goals and 21 points in just eight contests as the Mustangs went 6-3 over the month. Real chemistry is forming on Melfort’s veteran top line with the University of Maine commit Zac Somers in between Clay Seeva and Hutchinson, and if Coach Trevor Blevins can keep that unit intact, they will not be easy to stop. Hutchinson is presently fourth in league scoring with 66 points.

SuperU Defenceman of the Month: Chase Friedt-Mohr, Melfort Mustangs
A multiple-time defenceman of the week, Chase Freidt-Mohr continued his dominant campaign in February with only two games in which he did not record a point and four occasions in which he recorded multiple points from the back end. His pairing with captain Leith Olafson might be the best in the SJHL, and his blistering shot from the point and offensive instincts have helped him to sit third in points (50), and second in power-play points (24) among defenceman at the time of writing.
Monthly Stats: 9GP, 2G-12A, 14 PTS
DirectWest Rookie of the Month: Travis Bryson, Humboldt Broncos
Travis Bryson with Spencer Bell and Cage Newans might be the best line in the SJHL right now, and the hulking 19-year-old left winger Bryson is a huge piece of that. The Chesterfield, MI native leads the league in rookie scoring by 10 points at the time of writing with 49, and posted five goals and eight points in just three games to end February. The Broncos are right in the thick of an epic battle for 2nd place with only point between them, Battlefords, and Melfort, and with a 7-2 February, and a big win over Flin Flon late in the month, the Broncos
Monthly Stats: 9GP, 5G-7A, 12 PTS
Sasktel Goalie of the Month: Will Dyke, Melville Millionaires
The big Newfoundlander not only earned two shutouts in February, but he did so against Nipawin and Kindersley, two teams that were close in the standings to the Mils at the time. Melville has surprised everyone this year, and sits relatively securely in a playoff spot at the time of writing in fifth; and Dyke’s consistent play is a massive reason why. His three shutouts on the year sit third in the league, and his 20 victories mean he is just one of four net minders in the SJHL to hit that plateau.

Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Month: Clay Sleeva, Melfort Mustangs
The trade that sent Clay Sleeva to Melfort from Yorkton in exchange for David Coyle and other considerations has worked out great for both clubs, and the former Terriers’ captain Sleeva has been even more enormous for the ‘Stangs given their injury woes. Sleeva’s February point totals were only second in the league to line-mate Aidyn Hutchinson, and his speed and versatility up front give Coach Trevor Blevins all sorts of options for when and how to utilize the Canora, SK native. Sleeva has 18 goals and 50 points in 47 games so far this season.
