HAWKS WIN FOURTH STRAIGHT

By Craig Stein

After going winless through their first four games of the season (0-2-2-0), the Nipawin Hawks have now rattled off four straight victories, and three in the last three nights, after they beat Melville 3-1 in Sunday’s lone SJHL contest.

Brett Harasymuk has had a huge hand in the turnaround.  He was held pointless through the first four games, but during the four game win streak, he has two points in each, (5g-3a) including a pair of goals on Sunday.  Boedy Donald had the other Hawks’ goal while Kristian Stead made 18/19 saves as the Hawks improved to 4-2-2-0 on the season.

Aaron Aragon scored his first SJHL goal for the Millionaires (3-6-0-0) in the first period.  Melville goalie Colby Entz made 25/27 saves in the loss.

Melville started the season with three straight losses, won their next three, and now find themselves on another three game slide, dropping three in as many nights on a road swing that saw them play twice in Flin Flon, prior to Sunday’s tilt at The Cage.

The Millionaires are off until Friday when they start their first home-and-home of the season with Yorkton, while the red-hot Hawks are off for 12 days, not back in action again until Fri/Oct/14 when they host Humboldt.

The whole league takes Monday night off before resuming action Tuesday with a pair of games, with Humboldt (7-1-0-0) looking to stay hot when they host La Ronge (1-7-0-0), while Melfort (3-5-0-0) travels to Battlefords (5-3-0-0).
