SGEU MVP of the Week: David Coyle, Melfort Mustangs

It’s not often you see a player have a seven point game at any level of hockey. However, David Coyle of the Melfort Mustangs accomplished this Saturday night in the Mustangs 8-5 win over Yorkton. Coyle found the back of the net three times and added four assists. He also had a pair of assists earlier in the week, resulting in 9 points in four games. Coyle is now up to 9 goals and 10 assists on the season.

Bourgault Forward of the Week: Justin Lies, Flin Flon Bombers

It was another perfect week for the Flin Flon Bombers as the number one team in both the SJHL and CJHL (according to the CJHL Top 20 rankings) are rolling. Leading the way up front was Captain Justin Lies. The 20-year-old found the back of the net 6 times in four games this week and added 3 assists. He is now up to 16 goals and 16 assists on the season and is currently ranked 4th in SJHL scoring.

SuperU Defenceman of the Week: Alex Izyk, Battlefords North Stars

The hottest team in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League in the last 10 games is the Battlefords North Stars who have won 10 straight. They continue to get contributions from up and down their line-up, including from Alex Izyk on the blue line. The 20-year-old defenceman found the back of the net twice this past week but was a big reason the Stars knocked off the Estevan Bruins at the SJHL Showcase as he set up four goals. In 19 games this year, Izyk has 4 goals and 13 assists, which ranks 9th among SJHL defenceman.

DirectWest Rookie of the Week: Keenan Ingram, Kindersley Klippers

The busiest team this past week was the Kindersley Klippers, playing five games in six days. The club earned seven out of a possible 10 points and helping them do that was stand-out rookie Keenan Ingram. Throughout the stretch, Ingram scored four times and set up five other goals as the number one line of the Klippers continues to produce. In 20 games played this season, Ingram is now up to 11 goals and 15 assists on the season, which is tops among rookies in the SJHL.

Sasktel Goalie of the Week: Harmon Laser-Hume, Flin Flon Bombers

It was a great week in between the pipes for Bombers netminder Harmon Laser-Hume. In three games played this past week, including two against the Humboldt Broncos, the 20-year-old allowed just four goals and made 104 saves. The Creston, BC product has improved his game this year and currently has the best Goals Against Average in the league at 2.26.

Saskatchewan Player of the Week: Logan Linklater, Kindersley Klippers (from Kindersley, Sask)

The Captain of the Kindersley Klippers had a big week for his hometown club as they climbed into a playoff position following a very busy week. Logan Linklater played a big part in that, setting the tone with two 3rd period goals in the Klippers comeback win at the SJHL Showcase over the Melville Millionaires on Tuesday. The 20-year-old finished the week with three goals and five assists and is currently 11th in league scoring.
