The La Ronge Ice Wolves are pleased to announce that graduating defenceman Connor Abric has committed to Saint Mary’s University in Winona, MN (NCAA D3) for the 2023-24 season.

“I can’t wait to get started in Winona – I’m excited for the next few years of hockey,” said Abric. “I ended up choosing Saint Mary’s because I felt like it’s the best fit for me with a smaller enrolment and beautiful campus. Going to Saint Mary’s will also give me the opportunity to play in a very strong conference.”

Abric, a Wisconsin product, is coming off a strong season with the Ice Wolves, tallying 23 points and 88 penalty minutes in 53 regular season games. In 102 SJHL games, Abric recorded 33 points and 147 penalty minutes.

“Connor was a great leader on and off the ice,” said La Ronge Ice Wolves Head Coach and GM Kevin Kaminksi. “He was a big, strong defender that was great on the penalty kill. He led our team in blocked shots, but he also chipped in offensively at big times.”

Abric is the second player from the 2022-23 version of the La Ronge Ice Wolves to commit to a post-secondary institution.
