By Craig Stein

The Flin Flon Bombers are off to the SJHL Quarter-Finals thanks to a Wild Card Series sweep over the Weyburn Red Wings, capped with 6-2 decision at the Whitney Forum in Sunday night’s Game 2.

The Bombers led 2-0 after the first period, saw that lead slip away in the second, but they tacked on four more in the third to put the game and the series to bed.

Nate Hooper and Donavan Houle-Villeneuve finished the two game series with five points each, and they both had a goal and two assists on Sunday.  Brandson Hein scored twice in the clincher, while Tyler Higgins (1g-1a) and Caleb Franklin added the others.  Gabriel Waked made 24/26 saves in the win, and went 2-0, 2.50 GAA, .906% in the Wild Card series.

Former Bomber Dawson McKenzie scored for Weyburn and tied for the team-lead with three points (1g-2a) in the series.  Connor Pyne also scored and Cody Levesque made 58/64 saves on the night.

The Bombers advance to face the Battlefords North Stars in a Best-of-Seven Quarter-Final, with Games 1 and 2 expected to go in Battlefords on Friday and Saturday.
