BOMBERS HEADING TO SECOND STRAIGHT FINAL

THIRD STRAIGHT WIN COMPLETES FLIN FLON’S COMEBACK

The Flin Flon Bombers have erased a 3-1 series deficit and are off to the Canalta Cup Final for a second straight year, after a 3-0 win over the Nipawin Hawks in Game 7 on Tuesday night.

Brenden Newton made 36 saves for his first shutout of these playoffs, and since entering the series early in Game 4, Newton went 3-0, 0.54 GAA, .984%, 1 SO.

The Bombers scored once in each period in Game 7, as Nate Hooper opened the scoring and finished it with an empty-netter, and Jason Lavallee added his 6th of the post-season in the second period.

Kristian Stead made 44/46 saves in goal for the Hawks, and the league’s Top Goalie and MVP finished the playoffs with a 7-3 record, 1.91 GAA, .946%.  In this series, he was 3-3, 2.01, .945.

Flin Flon will travel to Battlefords to take on the North Stars to kick off the Canalta Cup Final, likely this Friday and Saturday.  Full schedule will be released in short order.
