BRUINS WIN ON SUPER SUNDAY

By Craig Stein

BOMBERS WIND UP SPLITTING ROAD TRIP

In their only game of the weekend, the Estevan Bruins hosted the Flin Flon Bombers at the end of a four game road trip, and the Bruins scored three times in the final 5:33 of the third period, to come from behind and beat the Bombers 4-2, in a battle of division leaders.

The Bruins (29-15-0-1) are now 10 points clear of Weyburn for the Viterra Division lead, with three games in hand.

After trailing 2-1 in the third, Bruins’ defenseman Josh Rieger took things over, tying the game at 14:27, before the recent UND commit gave Estevan the leads less than four minutes later.  Jake Fletcher opened the scoring for the Bruins, and Matt McNeil’s 22nd of the season was into an empty net in the dying seconds.  Nathan Alalouf made 32/34 saves to pick up the win.

The Bombers (32-12-2-3) won the first two games of their four game trip, before dropping the final two in Notre Dame and Estevan.

Connor Beebe and Greyson Reitmeier picked up Flin Flon’s goals on Sunday afternoon, with Zac Robidoux making 30/33 saves.

The Bombers are off until Friday when they host La Ronge, to kick off a weekend home and home.  Estevan welcomes Yorkton on Tuesday.
