The Estevan Bruins made two of the bigger calls in the off-season.
They removed the interim tag from head coach and general manager Drew Kocur, therefore issuing him a vote of approval after he took over from Jason Tatarnic mid-season a year ago. Then they acquired veteran power forward Rylan Williams and two junior experienced defencemen from the Battlefords North Stars, in exchange for the list rights to star forward Kent Moors.
As such, it is truly Kocur’s team now, and his cupboard is full of intriguing talents who have not yet shown their full potential at this level; therefore, they should have a big chip on their shoulder as a group.
Let’s take a look at some key numbers from the last regular season for the Bruins:

This proud fanbase is looking for a quick rebound, rather than a long rebuild, so the ever-optimistic Kocur has work to do, albeit with a relatively experienced corps, including the likes of Williams, Ewan Rennie, and Rorey Elson up front, and Ethan Andrews and Logan Goodwin on the back end.
SJHL Co-Director of Media Clark Munroe sat down with Head Coach and General Manager Drew Kocur in the SCSA Coaches’ Show ahead of the 25/26 season and got his thoughts on the upcoming year.
