WEYBURN, SK – Reid Arberry tied the game with 34 seconds remaining in regulation, and Joey Lies notched the shootout winner as the Flin Flon Bombers rallied past the Humboldt Broncos 7-6 Friday in the skills competition.

Lies also scored as part of the Bombers’ three-goal third period as Humboldt led 4-1 and 5-2 in the second period.

New Bronco Oliver Phillips led the way for Humboldt with a pair in his debut.

Elsewhere in Kindersley, the Klippers got the shootout winner from Brock Evans to down the Estevan Bruins 2-1.

It was remarkably Kindersley’s 11th overtime game already in the season, one fewer than their league-leading full-season total of 12 from a campaign ago.

Evans’ shootout goal was his league-best fourth of the campaign at the time of writing.

Klipper Stein Dostal and Bruin Noah Asmundson had the regulation goals while Brett O’Halloran made 43 stops, plus both saves in the shootout, for the victory.

In Weyburn, Jaxson Doyle notched his first career two-goal game and helped the Red Wings hold off a Warman Wolverines rally for a 5-4 win.

Warman’s Kane Kennedy had a hat trick in defeat.

Finally, in Nipawin, Gage Roberts stopped all 28 shots he faced for the first shutout of the campaign to help the Hawks blank the Melfort Mustangs 3-0.

New Hawk Brendan Olson had a goal and an assist to lead the way in his Nipawin debut.
