MELVILLE, SK – The Yorkton Terriers know they will finish the fourth regular season after scoring four times in the third period to down the Melville Millionaires 6-3 on Friday.
Terriers David Coyle and Thomas Ries scored a pair in the win, while the Mils now know they will finish fifth and face their Highway 10 rivals of Yorkton in Round 1 without home-ice advantage.
Hudson Cameron notched four points, and defenceman Rylan Silzer added a hat trick as the La Ronge Ice Wolves stayed alive in the playoff race via a 6-3 victory over the Flin Flon Bombers.
La Ronge must beat the Bombers in Flin Flon and hope for a Kindersley regulation loss at home to Battlefords on Saturday to make the post-season.
The Kindersley Klippers were prevented from punching their playoff ticket by way of a Battlefords’ forward Josh Knittig goal 18 seconds into the extra frame as the North Stars edged the Klips 3-2.
Humboldt did what it needed to do as it was the first club in the league to finish its regular season, downing the Nipawin Hawks 6-1 at the Cage in Nipawin.
The Broncos must wait and see on Saturday whether they finish sixth with a Kindersley win or seventh with a Battlefords victory.
Finally, in Weyburn, the Estevan Bruins came away with a 4-2 victory over the Wings. Zach Shaughnessy made 38 stops in the win.
