The Battlefords North Stars returned from a lengthy holiday break but appeared to show little or no rust as they won their fourth straight game and league-high 31st overall, starting off a road trip with a 6-3 decision in Estevan.
McGregor Sinclair scored the Stars’ last three goals, including a pair into an empty net to double hit goal total on the season. Layne Young (1g-1a), Keaton Holinaty (1g-1a) and Kendall Fransoo all scored first period goals to build a 3-0 lead for the North Stars (31-7-0-0).
Lynnden Pastachak, Josh Rieger and Jason Miller responded for the Bruins (25-13-0-1).

Colby Entz turned in his second straight shutout as the Melville rookie made 30/30 saves in the Millionaires’ 3-0 win over La Ronge. That came on the heels of a 29/29 saves performance Wednesday in Weyburn.
Tucker Scantlebury opened the scoring with his 10th of the season for the Millionaires (16-19-2-0) early in the second period, before Logan Foster and Logan Karakochuk (1g-1a) each added their first of the year.
Aaron MacKay made 31/34 saves in goal for the Ice Wolves (6-26-1-4), who continue on to Yorkton on Saturday.

The Humboldt Broncos opened a home and home with the Nipawin Hawks, by picking up a 6-2 victory at the Elgar Petersen Arena Friday.
Mattieu Gomercic had his best night as a Bronco to date, scoring twice and adding one assist, while Chris Van Os-Shaw also had a three point night (1g-2a). Logan Schatz (1g-1a), Trevor Posch (1g-1a) and Dawson Atamanchuk rounded out the scoring for Humboldt (21-16-0-1) and Garrett Mason stopped 40/42 shots. The Broncos went 3/6 on the powerplay and scored five second period goals.
Josh Bly and Eric Bolden did the scoring for the Hawks (20-11-2-1), who host the rematch Saturday at The Cage.

The Flin Flon Bombers gained two more points of cushion atop the Sherwood Division, and moved into second place overall, taking the first of a two game set in Kindersley 5-3.
Rylee Zimmer had a pair of goals and Brandon Lesko added a goal and two assists to lead the Bombers (24-10-2-2). Greyson Reitmeier (1g-1a) and Kristian St. Onge also found the net.
All the damage came in the third period for the Klippers (16-22-1-0), courtesy of Holden Daley, Jordan Funk and Cody Hodgson. The Klippers are a point out of a playoff spot, after watching Melville and Notre Dame both pick up wins ahead of them on Friday. The Klippers host the Bombers again on Saturday.

With Jordan Greenfield-Flemon taking a mid-season Division I scholarship to Alaska, Riley Higdon has put together back to back solid starts in his place, stopping 38/39 shots Friday as the Notre Dame Hounds won 4-1 in Weyburn.
That tightens up the middle of the pack even more, leaving the Hounds (16-15-3-1) in 9th place, one point back of Yorkton, two behind Melfort and now three shy of Weyburn.
Ben Duperreault (1g-1a), Kobe Kindrachuk, Nick Rein and Brandon Sookro scored for the Hounds, with Jacob Wozney opening the scoring for the Red Wings (17-17-1-4), with his 20th of the season, short-handed in the first period.
