Notre Dame Hounds’ Evan Vanden Heuvel has committed to play in Division III NCAA at the University of Wisconsin at Stout for the 2023-2024 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference campaign.

Vanden Heuvel, 19, was born in Ohio, but his family resides in Appleton, Wisconsin, which is approximately three hour’s drive from Menomonie, WI, the home of UW-Stout.

The 2003 birth year has played both forward and defence over his 87 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League contests for the Hounds and has posted 34 regular and post-season points in that time.

Notre Dame general manager Brett Pilkington signed Vanden Heuvel out of the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite U18AAA in Pennsylvania minor hockey.

“Vandy is a heart-and-soul guy that brings 100 percent effort every single day,” Pilkington said, “and is a joy to be around.

“On the ice, he is the ultimate teammate, he will do whatever it takes to win, and whatever is asked of him. Evan is exactly the type of human being any coach would want around a club and we’re extremely proud of him.”
