La Ronge, SK – The La Ronge Ice Wolves announced today that Head Coach and General Manager Kevin “Killer” Kaminski has signed a three-year contract extension, solidifying his leadership role with the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) club through the 2027–28 season.

“It feels great to be back with the Ice Wolves organization. Signing this new contract adds some security, and after six years here in La Ronge, it truly feels like home,” said Kaminski.

“I want to thank the board for having the faith in me to lead this organization. That support means everything.”

Kaminski, who joined the Ice Wolves ahead of the 2019–20 season, has been a transformative figure in La Ronge. In his first year behind the bench, he led the team to a dramatic turnaround and was named SJHL Coach of the Year in 2020. This past season, the Ice Wolves narrowly missed the playoffs by just one point, showcasing a competitive spirit and resilience that has become a trademark of Kaminski-led teams.

“We’re thrilled to have Kevin continue leading this program,” said the Ice Wolves organization in a statement. “His passion, experience, and relentless work ethic have elevated our culture on and off the ice.”

With this new extension, Kaminski and the Ice Wolves are aiming to take the next step — building on recent progress and setting their sights firmly on the SJHL playoffs and beyond.

“We’ve worked hard to build a strong culture, and I believe we’ve made some good strides. The guys understand what it takes to compete with the top teams in this league—we’ve had some great battles, and we’re ready to take that next step,” said Kaminski.

“The goal this season is clear: push for the playoffs and be one of the top four teams in the SJHL. We know we can finish the job.”

“We’re so excited for a new era of Ice Wolves hockey—one where we’re not only competitive on the ice, but active and present in the community. The guys are fired up, and we’re ready to build that fan base back up and give La Ronge something to be proud of.”

Before joining the Ice Wolves, Kaminski spent 19 seasons coaching at various levels of professional and junior hockey across North America, gaining a reputation as a hard-nosed leader and a player’s coach with a deep understanding of the game.

A former NHLer, Kaminski played 139 games in the National Hockey League with the Minnesota North Stars, Quebec Nordiques, and Washington Capitals.

Prior to turning pro, Kaminski was a standout with the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL, where he tallied 240 points and 823 penalty minutes in 183 games, cementing his legacy as one of the most feared and productive players in junior hockey.
