Koch SUPERU – Change the Way You Grow
Dave Leaderhouse
A trade with the Whitecourt Wolverines of the Alberta Junior Hockey League during the summer of 2019 landed the Flin Flon Bombers twin brothers Easton and Chase Haygarth and while Flin Flon was the runaway leaders in goals scored last year with four of the top seven league scorers coming from the northern Manitoba club, the Haygarth brothers also enjoyed a great deal of success during their maiden Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League campaign.
Now 20 years old and in their final season of junior eligibility, the Haygarth brothers are both looking to build on the success they enjoyed last year and help the Bombers capture its first championship in almost 30 years.
Easton Haygarth, at 5-foot-11 and 174 pounds, patrols the wing for the Bombers and in 56 games last year with Flin Flon amassed 53 points including 19 goals. The Lloydminster product also added a fair bit of sandpaper to the lineup as he also accumulated 125 minutes in penalties and in their brief playoff run he averaged a goal a game tallying four goals and one assist in the four-game sweep of the Humboldt Broncos in the quarter-final round.
Prior to moving east to Flin Flon, Easton Haygarth spent two seasons with the Wolverines and in 74 games registered 20 goals and 19 assists. His development years at the midget level were also spent at home in Lloydminster when he had 35 points in 37 games with the minor midget Rage as a 15-year-old and followed that up with 27 points in 32 games with the Midget AAA Bobcats.
Easton, who hopes to get a college scholarship and ultimately graduate with a degree, has his sights on finishing in the top-10 in league scoring, but more importantly wants to be relied on in every situation.
With most of Flin Flon’s explosive offence from last year having moved on, Easton Haygarth should get his wish of being counted on for additional offence, but also to provide the club with invaluable leadership.
