Millionaires & Bombers Extend Winning Streaks

The new week in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League kicked off Tuesday night with a pair of games.

Melfort 3 Melville 5

In Melville, the Millionaires extended their winning streak to four games and completed the home and home sweep of the Melfort Mustangs winning 5-3 at the HCUC. Euan Morrison and Colby Ball each had a goal and an assist in the win, and William Dyke made 32 stops as the Millionaires improved to 7-2 on the season. They are also undefeated at the “Bank” in Melville as they are a perfect 5-0 at the Horizon Credit Union Centre. Melville will now head out on the road this weekend for three games in three nights beginning in Flin Flon Friday.

Flin Flon 3 Nipawin 2 

Speaking of the Bombers, they continued on their winning ways as they earned a 3-2 win on the road in Nipawin against the Hawks. Justin Lies scored the game winner early in the 3rd period to vault the Bombers to a 12-0-1-0 record on the season. Jacob Vockler and Koen Senft also found the back of the net for the Bombers in the victory. Flin Flon returns home Friday to host Melville and the Hawks will look to bounce back Sunday afternoon when they host the Notre Dame Hounds.

Action resumes Wednesday night in the SJHL with just one game on the schedule. The Humboldt Broncos will play host to the Estevan Bruins as both clubs look to bounce back from shootout losses on Saturday. Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m. from the EPA.
