CALGARY, AB – National semifinal here we come.
The Melfort Mustangs started the right way in the quarterfinal, pelting the Greater Sudbury net with 24 shots and adding two goals in the first period en route to a resounding 7-1 victory Friday afternoon.
Kristian Coombs still had work to do, especially in a third period where the Cubs were fighting for their lives and fired from everywhere, but he stood firm once again in making 32 stops on the night.
Ashton Hutchinson and Ashton Paul both led the way for the Mustangs with three points each, while Reilley Kotai had a goal and an assist in his return to the line-up from injury.
Kaleb Binner, Cole Unger, Zac Somers, and Bryson Aikens also added goals for the SJHL champs.
