Thornton, 21, posted eight points and registered a +7 rating while averaging 23:44 of ice time per game through Melfort’s 14 playoff games.
The 6-foot-3, 179-pound defenceman had a breakout campaign offensively, scoring seven goals and 43 points in 49 regular-season games.
Over 131 career SJHL regular-season, 25 playoff and six Centennial Cup contests, Thornton had 79 points.
