Melfort Mustangs defenceman Zach Turner has committed to the University of Manitoba of USports for the 2025-26 Canada West campaign.
Turner, 21, posted 35 points and 118 penalty minutes over 59 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League games this year, and added three assists during the Mustangs’ run to the 2025 Centennial Cup Final.
A native of Boissevain, MB, Turner joins fellow Manitoban and SJHLer Matthew Kieper of the Flin Flon Bombers in committing to the Bisons for next year.
The 6-foot-2, 192-pound Turner also played in 115 Western Hockey League games over his junior career with Brandon and Swift Current.
“Zach’s experience was a huge asset in our dressing room”, says Head Coach Trevor Blevins.
“He came to Melfort to continue his development as a great defender and to play an offensive role. He played a huge part in our Championship season”.
