Notre Dame Hounds 24/25 Season Preview

The 2024-25 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League campaign begins Friday, Sept. 20, but the Notre Dame Hounds, the subject of our first season preview, will not start until a day later.

2023-24 was a tough season for the Hounds, who began the year 0-9 and needed help to dig themselves out of that hole. Despite the on-ice struggles, head coach and general manager Brett Pilkington still demonstrated his ability to help players move on to the next level at an impressive clip.

Let’s take a look at some key numbers from the last regular season for ND:

Record: 15-39-2-0 (32 pts, 12th place)
Special Teams: PP: 18.9% (9th); PK: 73.9% (11th)
Goal Differential: GF: 152 (12th); GA: 262 (12th); Diff: -110
Special Teams Frequency: Power-Play Opportunities: 227 (12th); Times Shorthanded: 257 (6th)

Goaltender Stats from 23-24:

Johann Tremblay-Kau, 11-24-1, 4.25 GAA, .889 SV%, 0 SO
Spencer Borsos, 4-6-0, 4.20 GAA, .873 SV%, 0 SO
Jesse Pye, 0-8-1, 6.27 GAA, .845 SV%.

Top Scorers from 23-24:

Cole Wirun: 44GP, 19G, 25A, 44PTS
Kyle Kalamaras: 56GP, 11G, 26A, 37PTS
Alexander Hollands: 55GP, 14G, 18A, 32PTS
Davis Sato: 56GP, 14G, 17A, 31PTS
Carson Baylis: 35GP, 15G, 13A, 28PTS

As is often the case with ND, 24-25 promises to yield a slew of fresh faces in Wilcox, but in a spine of 20-year-olds like goaltender Spencer Borsos, defencemen Liam Hunks and Ripley Garden, and forward Marko Djordjevic, the Hounds will feel like they have some experience, leadership, and competitiveness to provide the foundation for the rest of the young squad.
