PLAYERS OF THE MONTH (Sept-Oct)

RBC SJHL PLAYER OF THE MONTH:  Ben Duperreault, Notre Dame Hounds
1996 F Ben Duperreault (Wilcox SK) leads the SJHL in scoring after October, picking up 12-goals and 17-assists in 17-games.  The veteran of 142-games in the Western Hockey League, picked up points in 15 of 17 games with his hometown SJHL team to start the year, picking up a hat trick against Flin Flon on October 16th.  He ends the month with 11-points in his final 5-games played.  Runner-up:  Chris Van Os-Shaw, Humboldt.

IBAS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE MONTH:  Josh Rieger, Estevan Bruins
1996 D Josh Rieger (Regina SK) was a model of consistency in the first six weeks of the season, picking up 4-goals and 15-assists in 16-games played.  He ends the month with points in seven straight games and he also had points in six straight games to start the year.  His biggest output was a 4-assist game against Weyburn on September 30th.  Runner-up:  Tyler Podgorenko, Notre Dame.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH:  Kristian Stead, Nipawin Hawks
1996 G Kristian Stead (Merritt BC) posted a 7-3-and-1 record to start the year and backstop the Hawks to first place in the Sherwood Division.  Stead registered 2-shutouts as well as a 1.64-GAA and .950-SPCT.  Among his highlights were 40+ save shutouts over Notre Dame and Weyburn, on home ice.  He gave up two or fewer goals in nine of eleven starts.  Runner-up:  Nathan Hargrave, Weyburn.

SJHL ROOKIE OF THE MONTH:  Joel Gryzbowski, Battlefords North Stars
1998 G Joel Gryzbowski (Saskatoon SK) took the league by storm in the first six weeks of the season as he won seven of eight starts and allowed two goals or fewer in seven of his eight starts as well.  He had shutouts on the road, in Melfort as well as in Flin Flon and ends up with a 7-and-1 ledger, 1.26-GAA, and .948-SPCT.  Runner-up:  Adam Dawe, Notre Dame.
