PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Ben Duperreault, Notre Dame Hounds
1996 F Ben Duperreault (Wilcox SK) was his usual consistent self this past week as the Hounds embarked on a four game road trip with Duperreault scoring a goal and an assist in each of those four games to boost his overall SJHL scoring lead to 16-goals and 21-assists in 22-games played.  He leads teammate Adam Dawe by six points.  Runner-up:  Jared Legien, Yorkton.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:  Brandon Wells, Melville Millionaires
1997 G Brandon Wells (Spirit River AB) won both of his starts this past week, making 34-saves in a shutout at Estevan and then turning aside 37-of-39 in a victory, at home, against Weyburn.  Wells upped his record to 8-and-5 and now has a 2.22-GAA and .940-SPCT.  Runner-up:  Taryn Kotchorek, Battlefords.

IBAS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK:  Jacob Cardiff, Notre Dame Hounds
1996 D Jacob Cardiff (Wilcox SK) picked up five assists in the four game northern road trip the Hounds embarked on last week and was also a dominating physical presence, especially on Saturday night in Flin Flon.  Cardiff, who has three years WHL experience, now has 1-goal and 11-assists in 12-games this season.  Runner-up:  Tyler Podgorenko, Notre Dame.

SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Matt Vernon, Yorkton Terriers
1998 G Matt Vernon (Calgary AB) won both of his starts this past week, stopping 38-of-39 against Weyburn on Wednesday night before making 40-stops on 42-shots versus Estevan on Sunday to improve his overall ledger to 3-3-1, 4.28, .887.  Runner-up:  Adam Dawe, Notre Dame.
