SGEU MVP of the Week: Aidyn Hutchinson, Melfort Mustangs

Two games and five goals for Melfort Mustangs forward Aidyn Hutchinson has him earning SGEU MVP of the Week honours. The 20-year-old St.Albert, Alberta product netted a hat-trick against the La Ronge Ice Wolves Friday night in an overtime loss and then followed it up with a pair of goals Saturday in a shutout victory over the #1 Flin Flon Bombers. Hutchinson is now up to 18 goals and 24 assists on the season which is good for 8th in SJHL scoring.

Bourgault Forward of the Week: Alex Bernauer, Nipawin Hawks

The Nipawin Hawks have come out flying in the first week of 2024, finding the back of the net 17 times in three games. Leading the charge was Alex Bernauer who scored four times in three games, including a hat-trick against the Kindersley Klippers, and added a pair of assists. In 22 games played this season the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan product has 23 points in 22 games.

SuperU Defenceman of the Week: Colby Ball, Melville Millionaires

Colby Ball and the Melville Millionaires earned their first win of the unofficial second half of the season Saturday at home in their first meeting of the season against Weyburn. The 20-year-old blue-liner has had a great first two games of 2024, compiling four points in a pair of games. In the Mills 6-2 win over the Red Wings Saturday, Ball had a goal and an assist. The Sherwood Park, Alberta product has five goals and 14 assists this season.

DirectWest Rookie of the Week: Jye Zawatsky, Yorkton Terriers

Sticking in the Parkland region, Jyz Zawatsky was recognized on Saturday as the Terriers RBC Community Ambassador and now he is being recognized as DirectWest Rookie of the Week. The Yorkton product had a four-point day on New Year’s Day as the Terriers completed the holiday sweep of their Highway 10 rivals. He also added an assist in the Terriers’ comeback win Saturday. The 18-year-old is up to 10 goals and 7 assists on the season

Sasktel Goalie of the Week: Ethan Farrow, Yorkton Terriers

There was no goalie busier than Ethan Farrow of the Yorkton Terriers this past week. Farrow played in all three of the Terriers games and was stable and consistent in net allowing just two goals in all three of their games, earning wins in two out of three games. Farrow is 8-6 since being acquired by the Terriers and boasts a 3.38 GAA this season.

Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Week: Braxton Buckberger, Nipawin Hawks

Earning Canterra Saskatchewan Player of the Week honours for the third time this season is Braxton Buckberger of the Nipawin Hawks. The 20-year-old forward just continues to produce for the Hawks. He netted a pair of goals this past week and set up four more as the Hawks earned four out of a possible six points.
