SGEU MVP of the Week: Ben Portner, Battlefords North Stars

The hottest team in the SJHL continued to roll this week as the Battlefords North Stars picked up three victories. 19-year-old Ben Portner led the charge for the defending Canterra Seeds Cup champs as the rookie found the back of the net six times and added five assists in just three games. Portner is now up to 18 goals and 31 assists on the season and is currently alone in 6th in SJHL scoring with 49 points.

Bourgault Forward of the Week: Alexander Hollands Notre Dame Hounds

Alexander Hollands and the Notre Dame Hounds saw better results this week and the 20-year-old forward played a big part in the turnaround. In three games played this past week Hollands found the back of the net twice and added four assists as the Hounds won two out of three of their games. The Dallas, Texas product is now up to 11 goals and 14 assists on the season.

SuperU Defenceman of the Week: Alex Izyk, Battlefords North Stars

20-year-old Alex Izyk continues to rack up the points as he enjoys a career year with the defending SJHL champs. In three games this past week the Blackie, Alberta product had seven points, including a four-point game Saturday night on the road in Humboldt as the Stars completed the home and home sweep of the Broncos with a 7-3 win. Izyk is now up to 10 goals and 25 assists on the season and is currently tied for 2nd in SJHL scoring among defencemen.

DirectWest Rookie of the Week: Eliott Mikesch, Melville Millionaires

Safe to say Eliott Mikesch is enjoying his new home in Melville. After being acquired at the trade deadline from the AJHL, Mikesch has been a great addition to the Mills. In three games this past week the 19-year-old from Green Bay, Wisconsin had three goals and three assists.

Sasktel Goalie of the Week: Kenneth Marquart, Flin Flon Bombers

The Flin Flon Bombers got back to their winning ways this week with a trio of victories and 18-year-old goaltender Kenneth Marquart was a brick wall for the Bombers in his pair of starts. The 2nd year Bomber allowed just one goal in two games and posted a 41-save shutout Sunday evening against the Yorkton Terriers. Marquart will also be one of the goalies for the U18 team at the SJHL/MJHL Showcase at the end of the month.

Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Week: Brock Evans, Kindersley Klippers (from Warman, Sask)

It was a busy week for the Kindersley Klippers as they took to the ice four times in five days. The team went 2-2 and forward Brock Evans had a big week for them. The 17-year-old from Warman had seven points in four games, which included a massive game in Rosetown Wednesday against the Estevan Bruins which saw him net a hat-trick and add an assist in a 5-4 win for the Klippers. Evans now sits at 9 goals and 12 assists on the year.
