SGEU MVP of the Week: Keagon Little, Estevan Bruins

The captain of the Estevan Bruins led the charge this weekend for his club in two big victories at home over the Humboldt Broncos. Keagon Little found the back of the net three times this week and added four assists as the Bruins climbed into a playoff spot and up to 6th place. The Wymark, Saskatchewan product is up to 9 goals and 39 assists on the season and is tied for 8th in league scoring.

Bourgault Forward of the Week: Ben Portner, Battlefords North Stars

Ben Portner continued his hot play this week for the Battlefords North Stars despite the defending SJHL champs falling twice over the weekend to the Flin Flon Bombers. The 19-year-old scored twice both on Tuesday against Melville and Friday against Flin Flon. He then added one more Saturday against the Bombers at the Battleford Arena and added an assist. Portner is up to 23 goals and 32 assists on the campaign and 4th in league scoring.

SuperU Defenceman of the Week: Colby Ball, Melville Millionaires

The Melville Millionaires currently lead the Viterra division and are 7-3 in their last 10 games. A big reason for that is the elevated play of veteran defenceman Colby Ball. In a massive divisional game on Saturday night, the Sherwood Park product would score a pair of goals and add an assist as the Millionaires knocked off the Weyburn Red Wings 5-4. Ball sits with 11 goals and 18 assists this year and is tied for 9th in scoring among SJHL defencemen.

DirectWest Rookie of the Week: Luc Bydal, Melville Millionaires

Up front the Melville Millionaires had several players make significant contributions and none bigger than Luc Bydal. The rookie forward had a goal and two assists in a 6-3 win over the Kindersley Klippers Wednesday and then picked up a goal and an assist in the big 5-4 win at home Saturday over Weyburn. The Grand Forks, North Dakota product now has 16 goals and 15 assists in his first season and ranks 5th in rookie scoring.

Sasktel Goalie of the Week: Topher Chirico, La Ronge Ice Wolves

It was a quiet weekend for the goaltenders as not many teams played more than one game. In the Ice Wolves lone game of the week, Topher Chirico was superb in between the pipes for La Ronge in a 3-2 comeback win. The 20-year-old goaltender made 41 saves helping his club earn a big two points. This is the 3rd time Topher Chirico has won Sasktel Goalie of the Week award this season.

Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Week: Blake Heward, Estevan Bruins (from Regina, Sask)

Veteran blueliner Blake Heward had a big weekend for the Estevan Bruins. The 20-year-old Regina, Saskatchewan product had a goal and an assist in both victories over the Humboldt Broncos at home this past weekend. Heward is up to 6 goals and 12 assists on the year.
