SGEU MVP of the Week: Jacob Strizzi, Humboldt Broncos
It was a huge week overall for Strizzi, as not only did he rock the Battlefords North Stars with nine points, but he also led the SJHL point-getters at the MJHL/SJHL Showcase last week in Winnipeg with three goals and four points. The Vaughan, ON native has blasted himself to the top of the points leaderboard in the league and has shown no signs of slowing down amidst a red-hot run for the Broncos.
Weekly Stats: 2 GP, 3 G, 6 A, 9 PTS
Bourgault Forward of the Week: Kye Benoche, Humboldt Broncos
Strizzi would be the first to admit that he isn’t dominating to the level he is without his regular liney Kye Benoche. Benoche, one of the most under-appreciated players in the league, also had a solid Showcase and has found another level as the calendar has hit 2025.
Weekly Stats: 2 GP, 4 G, 3 A, 7 PTS
SuperU Defenceman of the Week: Ryder Knutson, Humboldt Broncos
When the Broncos considered making moves at the trade deadline, one of their untouchables was a fine two-way defender and ’05-born Ryder Knutson. The Swift Current, SK kid was finally able to unleash his offensive prowess to significant effect this past week, notching six of his 15 points on the year in just one span. There are a few holes to his game at this level right now.
Weekly Stats: 2 GP, 1 G, 5 A, 6 PTS
Sasktel Goalie of the Week: Dazza Mitchell, Humboldt Broncos
Sure, the Broncos ultimately cruised past the North Stars this past weekend, but there were furious periods of chances that could have changed the series if it were not for Dazza’s magic. Humboldt looks to be starting to peak at the right time, and Mitchell is right in the middle of it.
Weekly Stats: 2 starts, 2-0-0-0, .934 SV%, 2.50 GAA
IKS Media Rookie of the Week: Vinay Junek, Yorkton Terriers
Junek has been relatively quiet, waiting for his opportunity since November, so stepping up on a big weekend for the Terriers was much needed. This club has dealt with more than its fair share of adversity this year, and the local boy Junek is just one of those character kids on the squad who has been there for a week when the club could have let outside noise get to them.
Weekly Stats: 2 GP, 2 G, 1 A, 3 PTS
Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Week: Dawson Karol, Kindersley Klippers (from Regina, Sask)
Some felt DK was the biggest snub from the SJHL teams at the Winnipeg Showcase, but he did not let it get to him as the Klippers grabbed three of a possible four points in a hard-fought series at home with the La Ronge Ice Wolves this past week. Karol is one of just 10 players in the league with 20-plus goals on the year so far.
Weekly Stats: 2 GP, 2 G, 2 A, 4 PTS
