PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (Nov 23)

RBC Player of the Week – Eric Sorensen – Kindersley Klippers
2000 F – Sorensen was the difference maker in the Kindersley Klippers’ second win of the season. Following a 3-2 loss to the Nipawin Hawks on Friday, where Sorensen scored his second goal of the year, he netted both goals in a tightly contested 2-1 victory on Saturday over his former team. The win improved the Klippers to a 2-1-0 record on the season. Sorensen now has goals in all three games this year. In 35 games last year with Kindersley, Sorensen finished with five points. He’s currently matched that total through his first three games in 2020 (4g, 1a)

Mayfair Diagnostics  Defensemen of the Week – Austin King-Cunningham – Estevan Bruins
AKC was a force to be reckoned with in a dominating 7-0 Bruins’ victory over the Weyburn Red Wings on Friday night, and did so in a discipline way. The 20-year-old captain of the Bruins scored twice and added an assist on Friday, while also staying out of the penalty box. Although he was held of the score sheet in Saturday’s meeting with the Red Wings, his solid defensive play helped the Bruins secure a 3-1 victory.

SaskTel Goaltender of the Week – Boston Bilous – Estevan Bruins
The first shutout of the 2020/21 SJHL season belongs to 2001 G- Boston Bilous, which earned him the GOTW nod over some other deserving performances from goaltenders across the league. Rathan Robbins stopped 96 of 103 shots faced in two games for the Notre Dame Hounds. La Ronge’s Xavier Cannon picked up two wins. However, it was the 26-save shutout performance that rises to the top for the Moose Jaw Warrior loan.

Direct West Rookie of the Week – Brandon Della Paolera – La Ronge Ice Wolves
2001 F – Brandon Della Paolera leads all SJHL rookies with 6 points through his first 5 games, with much credit due to this past week. Della Paolera picked up two assists in the Ice Wolves’ 6-3 victory over the Nipawin Hawks on Tuesday. He then added a goal and an assist in a 3-1 victory on Friday over the Melfort Mustangs. The Osoyoos, BC product compiled 73 points in 80 games over the past two years with his hometown Coyotes in the KIJHL. His transition to Jr. A hockey has gone smoothly, with his production helping the Ice Wolves get out to a 4-1-0 start.
