SGEU MVP of the Week: Dazza Mitchell, Weyburn Red Wings

In an up-and-down year so far for the veteran, Mitchell shone and earned a measure of redemption this week in solid wins in Nipawin and Flin Flon. Weyburn’s tandem of Mitchell and Angelo Zol is clearly the best 1-2 punch in the net in the SJHL right now.
Weekly Stats: 2-0-0-0, 1.00 GAA, .971 SV%

Bourgault Forward of the Week: Lucas Schmid, Weyburn Red Wings

The Wings are flying high with the league’s second-most potent attack, and Schmid is just another reason why. His hat trick Wednesday in Nipawin was the third game in a row in which a Weyburn forward scored three goals, and his five-point game that night was a career-high.
Weekly Stats: 3GP, 3G-6A, 6 PTS

SuperU Defenceman of the Week: Ty Thornton, Melfort Mustangs

The SJHL Champion and Centennial Cup veteran has hardly missed a beat this year, much like the Mustangs, and his two power-play goals Thursday in Nipawin were instrumental to another Melfort win. He is so solid all over the ice that any offence he contributes is a cherry on top.
Weekly Stats: 2GP, 2G-1A, 3 PTS

Sasktel Goalie of the Week: Justen Maric, Battlefords North Stars

Two games back in the Battlefords line-up for the veteran netminder, it was like he never left. Two terrific outings for Maric led to two wins for the North Stars in Wilcox against the Hounds this last week, including one of the best saves of the year on Ian Buors in the first of the two-game set.
Weekly Stats: 2-0-0-0, 1.00 GAA, .965 SV%

IKS Media Rookie of the Week: Callum Creig, Yorkton Terriers

What once looked like a clear No. 1 situation in Yorkton for Ethan Farrow has turned, through no fault of Farrow’s and sheerly through the play of Creig, into a very potent 1a, 1b situation. Creig earned the shutout in Estevan last Wednesday, and then was terrific at home in the Highway 10 rivalry vs. Melville Friday.
Weekly Stats: 2-0-0-0, 0.50 GAA, .978 SV%.

Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Week: Brady Holtvogt, Humboldt Broncos (from Humboldt, Sask)

How is this for a dream debut? In your hometown, for your hometown team, you get shut out! Such was the occasion for rookie 17-year-old Brady Holtvogt as his Humboldt Broncos blanked the La Ronge Ice Wolves 1-0 at the Elgar Petersen Arena Saturday. Not bad.
