SJHL Power Rankings – Week 18 (Feb. 3, 2026)
1. Flin Flon Bombers (Last week 1)
It truly feels like the first time all year there has been any separation at the top of the standings, but here we are. The Bombers’ seven out of an eight possible points on their final significant road trip of the season this past week pushed them nine points ahead in first place. A week off games is likely much needed, however, as injuries have piled up for the Maroon, and especially with a serious threat in the Weyburn Red Wings coming to town this weekend.
2. Weyburn Red Wings (Last week 3)
Cody Mapes’ men showed once again how they have enormous guts in a 3-2 overtime win on Wednesday at home over Flin Flon, a game that was one of the best of the whole regular season so far. The Wings went 4-1 on their five-game homestand to end January and face a gauntlet of tough opposition to start February. Still, they have shown time and again that they are not afraid of anyone, especially with Joey Rocha playing well in net.
3. Yorkton Terriers (Last week 5)
There can be little argument that the Terriers have been the team of the second half. Hard-fought, signature wins over Battlefords, Nipawin and Estevan this past week expunged the frustration of last Saturday’s frustrating defeat to Kindersley. The top line keeps cooking, the defence depth is for real, and Callum Creig is the latest MVP of the Week in net…it’s all coming up Yorkton right now.
4. Battlefords North Stars (Last week 2)
Connor Logan’s men burned white hot in January, with win streaks of seven and four games, but cooled off a bit as the month came to a close. The schedule sees the stars on the road a bunch to start February, but it’s manageable, and they have points from 14 of 19 games away from the ACC this year. Watch for the North Stars to rise again.
5. Nipawin Hawks (Last week 4)
The bad news is that the Hawks are in the midst of a very tough stretch in terms of strength of schedule, but the good news is that they are finally healthy, which means they belong in the upper echelons of this league. They sandwiched a big win at home over Melfort last week, to losses to the two hottest teams in the league, Flin Flon and Yorkton, but it all cools off a little bit to start February. They are out of the Round 1 home-ice advantage spots by win percentage at the time of this writing, and it should be a thrilling race to the finish.
6. Melville Millionaires (Last week 6)
The Mils have some time now to rest and recoup after a really tough back-to-back weekend, wherein they beat Battlefords (at the time one of the hottest clubs in the league) and then lost to Flin Flon (still the hottest team in the league). Doug Johnson’s men head to Humboldt Friday, where, for whatever reason, they always seem to play well. They have sixth in their sights, and it’s still a bit away, but what neutral does not want another Melville-Yorkton playoff series? It’s certainly possible!
7. Kindersley Klippers (Last week 9)
Character is the word of the week for the Klippers, who gutted out a come-from-behind win in Yorkton two Saturdays ago, and then ended January with a gusty 1-0 victory over the Humboldt Broncos for Mattias Radke’s first career shutout. The Klips have four more on the road coming up, all against teams below them in the standings, and then a six-game home stand against mostly very tough opposition. Should be an interesting stretch!
8. Melfort Mustangs (Last week 6)
Melfort’s charge back into playoff relevance hit a bit of a speed bump last week, with losses to Battlefords and Nipawin (where they honestly have had no luck at all this year so far). They got a bonus night off Jan. 31 when the Red Wings couldn’t get to Melfort due to the weather, so they should be rested and ready to go for a must-win in La Ronge Tuesday night. Even though they lost, Madden Mulawka was awesome in net against Nipawin on Friday night.
9. Estevan Bruins (Last week 8)
Everybody in the league has had their turn to be flying, and everyone has had their turn to struggle, and right now seems to be Estevan’s turn for the latter. A deep breath to clear their heads after they’ve had to play the red-hot Flin Flon Bombers three out of their last four games is just what the doctor ordered, and there is so much talent and character in this team that a response sooner than later is all but assured. That said, only four of their remaining 15 games are at Affinity Place.
10. Humboldt Broncos (Last week 10)
The Broncos got two much-needed wins over Warman this past weekend, and that they were on the uglier side is totally irrelevant: for Humboldt right now, points are points. Brayden Klimosko’s men snapped a little offensive drought with 10 goals in their last two against the Wolverines, and will need that confidence against tough opposition coming up this week. Still, their competitive level, despite going from one of the oldest to one of the youngest teams in the league, remains impressive.
11. Warman Wolverines (Last week 11)
The wildest stats over the weekend for Warman were the icetimes of their Top 2 defencemen, Vinny Palmarin and Pherson Loehndorf, Saturday in Humboldt. The two played 36 and 34 minutes in the second of two-straight overtime losses to the Broncos, and those two have truly been remarkable in all ways for the fledgling franchise this year. Warman needs only one more win to tie last year’s full-season total, which, of course, came when they were still the Notre Dame Hounds.
12. La Ronge Ice Wolves (Last week 12)
The Wolves have not been overly busy lately and took a much-needed rest after a hard-fought loss in Warman on Wednesday. Five of the next six are at the JRMCC, so the home fans will have plenty of opportunity starting in February to get a look at the future of this organization. Dayton Tailfeathers has been a real bright spot lately, with five goals and nine points in his last five games.
