HUMBOLDT, SK – Kye Benoche scored twice, and Jacob Strizzi added three helpers as the Humboldt Broncos downed the Notre Dame Hounds 4-1 and slipped into sixth place Saturday.
The Broncos moved up due to Flin Flon’s 3-1 victory over the Battlefords North Stars, whom Humboldt was behind at the beginning of the night. The Broncos also clinched their playoff spot with the win.
Meanwhile, in Yorkton, the Terriers rallied to beat the Estevan Bruins 5-4 and moved within two points of the Weyburn Red Wings for third place in the league.
Earlier in the day, the Melville Millionaires got pairs from Brendan Olson and Matt Kjemhus to cruise past the Wings 5-1. The Mils’ victory means they remained three points behind Yorkton for fourth, with both teams having two games remaining in the regular season.
