Carter Phair made no less than 50 saves, as the Weyburn Red Wings won their sixth straight game, while also handing the Nipawin Hawks their first regulation loss since opening weekend, with a 3-1 decision on Saturday.

The Hawks (8-2-1-1) got on the board first when Carter Doerksen lit the lamp just 3:01 in, but Phair let nothing else by him the rest of the way.

Jeremy Velazquez, Mike Eskra and Cade Kowalski then scored three unanswered for the Red Wings (8-2-1-0).

Nipawin wraps up their weekend swing when they head to Notre Dame in Sunday’s lone action.

Josh Fletcher was in on all three of his team’s goals and Justen Close stopped 33 of 35 shots as the Kindersley Klippers edged the Melfort Mustangs 3-2.

Fletcher scored twice and set up Kyle Bosch for the other as the Klippers (7-4-2-0) improved to 3-0-1 in their last four games.

Carson Albrecht and Andrew Thompson replied for the Mustangs (10-2-2-1), who are now winless in three (0-1-1-1).

Chantz Petruic had a goal and two assists and the Yorkton Terriers snapped a three game losing streak with a 5-4 win in Estevan.

William Brochu added a pair of goals for the Terriers (3-9-2-0), while Cody Bruchkowski and Austen Flaman added the others, and Nolan Maier made 45/49 saves.

Isaac Embree and Matthew Chekay each had a goal and an assist for Estevan while Jake Heerspink and  Michael McChesney added the others.  The Bruins (10-4-1-0) dropped back to back home games over the weekend.

The Melville Millionaires (4-10-0-2) were winless in six before Saturday’s 3-2 win in Humboldt.

The Broncos edged the Millionaires by the same 3-2 score, in a shootout the previous night in Melville.

Saturday saw 20-year-old Tyler Millar score twice, his first two as a Millionaire, while Montana Streit also scored.  Chaz Rometty and Jordan Mish each had a pair of assist and Colby Entz made 24/26 saves in the win.

Jacob Wassermann made 26/29 saves for the Broncos (8-6-1-0) with Logan Schatz and Logan Hunter doing the scoring.

The Battlefords North Stars ran their record to 8-0-1-0 with Saturday’s 5-2 win over the Flin Flon Bombers.

Matthias Urbanski opened the scoring and finished the night with two goals.  Keith Anderson (1g-1a), Layne Young and Ryan Gil rounded out the scoring and Kolby Matthews made 26/28 stops.

Chrystopher Collin and Caleb Moretz (1g-1a) scored first period goals for the Bombers (5-7-0-3), who are now winless in seven (0-6-1).
